Henry Laurens Kellogg House, Newington, Connecticut:
In 1875, this Italianate abode was built on Willard Avenue for an entrepreneur named Henry Laurens Kellogg. He owned a satinet factory which made uniform fabric during the Civil War. Like many wealthy homeowners, Kellogg drew inspiration for the villa-style design from his travels to Italy. Kellogg’s factory, which later burned down, once stood between his home and Piper Brook. The house now serves as a two family dwelling.
