Benjamin Bradley House, Guilford, Connecticut:
At 39 Boston Street is an Italianate villa erected in 1860. Its builder was William E. Weld who constructed a similar home on Whitfield Street. It’s been speculated that these two houses were initially designed by New Haven architect, Henry Austin. As for Benjamin Bradley, he was a well-known entrepreneur in Guilford during the 19th century who became involved in the printing at the age of 17. Then he found success as a merchant in various dry goods business ventures. At the time of his passing in 1894, Bradley was the lead owner of the Jerome Clock Company in Bristol, Connecticut.
