Colin M. Ingersoll House, New Haven, Connecticut:

At 475 Whitney Avenue is a Chateauesque mansion dated back to 1896. It was designed by Joseph W. Northrop of Bridgeport. The brick, brownstone, and red clapboard structure has a hip roof and a grand turret. The exterior is decorated with medieval French accents, including fleurs de lis.

The home was built for Colin M. Ingersoll, Jr., chief engineer of the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad. He was the son of Colin Macrae Ingersoll (1819-1903), who served in the U.S. House of Representatives. The property is now used by Pellegrino Law Firm.
